Million Dollar Hole in One Golf Tournament

The Rotary Club of Darwin is conducting the Darwin Hole in One competition to raise funds for Rotary, Rotary’s Junior Sport foundation and Charlie King’s and the NO MORE Campaign which aims to reduce family violence.

The Hole in One competition will take place over ten weeks exclusively at the Gardens Park Golf Links. Following the ten-week competition, weekly winners will have the chance to hit for a hole in one to win the million-dollar prize money.

Corporates, individuals, sporting teams, anyone and everyone are invited to participate. We are continuing this unique event which is the first of its kind in Darwin and perhaps even Australia. The ten-week tournament will also be accompanied by food and drinks, and even some great weekly prizes. Families are welcome.

The tournament is an opportunity to bring together business, sporting clubs, locals and visitors to the Territory to work together to raise money for some very worthy causes.

It’s also a great opportunity to raise awareness about the seriousness of family violence and provide support for activities for Darwin youth.

About NO MORE Campaign

Momentum for the campaign began in 2006, and was consolidated in 2008 when NO MORE Campaign founder Charlie King visited remote Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory to discuss family violence. Charlie noticed a trend among the top end and central desert communities. He found a common platform from which to unite Indigenous men in communities throughout the Territory and NO MORE was born. Family violence is not, however, exclusive to indigenous communities. Accordingly, the campaign has reached out to the wider Australian community. Today the NO MORE Campaign has links with more than five sporting codes and nearly a hundred teams, and is still growing. A unique NO MORE approach to family violence has been developed, the domestic violence action plan. The NO MORE Campaign has also garnered support from all levels of government, and the wider public.

About Rotary Junior Sports Foundation

As an initiative of the Rotary Club of Darwin, this program is funded by the club and is intended to benefit young people involved in sport. The program initially grew out of a Rotary Golf series commencing in 2007 when young golfers were assisted into competition and mentored in play and personal development. The program has now expanded to cover all sports and to respond to clubs and individuals in need, particularly those young people without the necessary financial backing to advance into competition. More than just a grants program, it is intended that the recipients will contribute to their own advancement on a partnership basis.
